I was so excited and honored that Isaiah and Emily asked me to photograph their special day! They started off getting ready at Croghan Mennonite Church. Emily was so calm the entire time just hanging out with Family and Friends. Her sisters and friends did everyone's hair and make up and they did an amazing job! The guys were so relaxed and even played football outside in the parking lot before getting ready! The whole day was just so relaxing and beautiful!! Isiah and Emily Roes -19.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -19.jpg Isiah and Emily Roes -18.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -18.jpg Isiah and Emily Roes -20.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -20.jpg Isiah and Emily Roes -21.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -21.jpg Isiah and Emily Roes -22.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -22.jpg Isiah and Emily Roes -23.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -23.jpg Isiah and Emily Roes -24.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -24.jpg Isiah and Emily Roes -26.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -26.jpg Isaiah and Emily Roes -34.jpgIsaiah and Emily Roes -34.jpg Isiah and Emily Roes -25.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -25.jpg Isiah and Emily Roes -32.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -32.jpg

Emily and her dad had a first look! It was so sweet!

One of my favorite parts was Emily's Bridal party prayed with her before she walked down the isle.

The cutest little flower girls! Isiah and Emily Roes -27.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -27.jpg Isiah and Emily Roes -28.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -28.jpg Isiah and Emily Roes -29.jpgIsiah and Emily Roes -29.jpg

They both wrote their own vows to each other and I'm pretty sure there wasn't a dry eye in the building.

Their reception was at the fairgrounds in the 4H building. They decorated it so beautifully!!

They had breakfast for dinner and it was so good!!! Their "cake" was a donut :)

Thank you both again for asking me to be apart of your special day! I wish you both a lifetime of happiness!

Thank you to Saige Miller for helping me second shoot :)

It was a beautiful cold day with a few flurries which made it so pretty! I had a hard time deciding which ones to share for their blog post! Can't wait to give them their full gallery! TJ and Court did a first look and it seriously had me almost in tears at their reactions toward each other. They have two adorable kids who were so much fun and loved getting their pictures taken making my job that much easier :) Take a look at their special day <3

How To Choose Your Senior Photographer https://www.kaitlynwoodphotography.com/blog/2017/4/how-to-choose-your-senior-photographer "Wow"!  Isn't that what you would like to say and have others say when your senior photos are seen for the first time?  Well it takes some planning and preparation to make this happen. Here are a few guidelines that can help you achieve this.

Shop Around: -Look for someone whose style of photography seems to fit your style. Take some time to look at photographers portfolio and determine if there is a theme to the way they take photos. Some may be edgy, clean, photojournalist, formal etc. I am a natural light photographer who loves to shoot in the outdoors and I like to capture images that showcase the personality and interests (sports, fashion, etc.) of my senior to create lasting memories for them.

Connect With Your Photography:- It is really important that you feel comfortable and just relaxed with your photographer. Determine if they are willing to be flexible or if they are just interested in a one size fits all approach.

Think and look for quality of service:- While it is of course very important that you like your photos, you should want to refer your photographer to your friends for the total experience.  it is important that your photographer cares about the service provided. Does he or she service you well from the first point of contact. Do they help you understand how you both can work together for example on the use of props or where a change of clothing is desired to assure the best outcome? Are the deliverables adequately defined ahead? I will work hard to earn your trust.

Think Ahead About Your Outfits and Props:- It is important that you spend time thinking about these kind of things that best reflect your personality, style , interests and how you would like to be remembered. Don't be afraid to ask your photographer, get a close friend or parent involved to help you in your selections and try your outfits on ahead. Remember to think about your outfits in terms of how they might best coordinate and withstand the test of time.

Think About How You Want Your Photos Displayed and Made Available- Ask your photographer how they will provide you your photos. Some provide digital photos, others a combination of digital and print through their print services. Having a website access can be helpful if you have family and friends who may like to purchase prints where you can send the link for viewing and prints can be ordered by them and shipped directly to their home. Professional printing is very high quality and your prints will last longer and you will see the difference however they may not be for everyone so determine what bests meets your needs and what the photographers you are looking at offer.

Be Willing to Compromise and Have Fun:- This is an investment. These are photos that you will have to look back on for many years to come. Remember that perhaps parents may be involved either in paying for your photos or in supporting your planning and preparation efforts. Be sensitive to their needs and welcome their involvement. It is best for all if you work towards a fun time together. Don't hesitate to suggest any different poses that you have seen but it is best to talk with your photographer ahead of time so you can make the most efficient use of your time doing your session.  Just be yourself on the day of our session.

If this has been helpful, please feel free to share it and contact me if you are interested in a session so we can begin the discussion of how I can meet your needs. I can be reached through my website at http://kaitlynwoodphotography.com, message me on Facebook or call me at (315) 420-1065.

Here are a variety of selections from a few of my seniors sessions, please feel free to check out additional work on my website or facebook page!

Lowville, New York Elk's Lodge #1605 Installation Dinner https://www.kaitlynwoodphotography.com/blog/2017/3/lowville-new-york-elks-1605-installation-dinner I was very honored to once again attend this great event, the Lowville Elks Installation Dinner and photograph so many of the evenings activities. We are Kaitlyn Wood Photography and we are inspired by what the Elk's do for our community. Below you will find a little bit about the Elk's Club from their website and some photo's of the event.

Enjoy!

Annually the Elk's Lodge holds an installation dinner for new officers in the coming year. It is also a time to recognize officers completing their terms, past PER's, their families and literally thousands of volunteers and others supportive of the Elk's Club and their Mission. It is here in its Mission that the ElK's Club excels. Their mission is:

To inculcate the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity; to recognize a belief in God; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its Members; to quicken the spirit of American patriotism; to cultivate good fellowship; to perpetuate itself as a fraternal organization, and to provide for its government, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America will serve the people and communities through benevolent programs, demonstrating that Elks Care and Elks Care.

Programs in support of its Mission are all focused on promoting and practicing the four cardinal virtues of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity. Such efforts locally  can include benevolent, educational and patriotic community-minded programs in such fields as benefiting handicapped children, scholarship programs, scouting, athletic teams and veterans to mention just to mention a few.

It was a night of celebration at this the 81st installation, incredible food and a time of reflection on what the Elk's Club is all about. Nearly 1,300 members of the Lowville Elk's can be proud of its many gifts through the Elk's Club to the community each and every year. Thank you to Dan Shannon who will end his term as Exalted Ruler and  welcome Luis Figueroa as incoming Exalted Ruler.

Welcome Home Soldier! https://www.kaitlynwoodphotography.com/blog/2014/8/welcome-home-soldier-lorentz-family       The entire homecoming experience is indescribable with every moment of the homecoming speaking volumes. It's an emotional experience beyond all others and it's truly a blessing to be able to witness loved ones reuniting. The suspense of the precious moments that are about to unfold keeps you on edge throughout the whole event. When the soldiers march through those doors you can immediately see the face of every single person in the auditorium light up with excitement, relief and love.

Dana Jan had previously helped me in acquiring my first homecoming photo session and soon after she contacted me about doing pictures for the return of her own soldier. I was thrilled! Thanks to my dad, who partners with me, for stepping in while I was unavailable for this homecoming. Seeing the love that Dana and Michael have for each other it's very exciting to see them back together!

Once again I would like to thank all of our soldiers and their families for what they have sacrificed in order to protect our nation. I can't imagine doing what they do and being apart from their families for so long. Welcome home!

Fort Drum Military Homecoming- Pfaff family https://www.kaitlynwoodphotography.com/blog/2014/8/fort-drum-military-homecoming       A few weeks ago I was presented the incredible opportunity to photograph my first military homecoming in Fort Drum. The experience was humbling beyond words and I'm honored to have been able to be a part of such a sweet family's reunion after so many months apart.

I began my journey into military homecomings by posting in a group of fellow homecoming photographers on Facebook and inquiring of whether or not they knew of anyone looking for a homecoming phtogorapher. I was contacted by Dana Jan with DjLorentz Photography and she referred me to a woman who was in search of a photographer for her husbands upcoming arrival. Jennifer and I kept in contact throughout the whole process, knowing that her husbands flight could change at any moment. When the day finally arrived for their highly anticipated reunion I was nervous, but very excited! You could feel the tension in the room as everyone anxiously awaited the arrival of their loved ones. From the very moment that the soldiers marched through those doors, my emotions were running high from the happy tears, smiles and exuberant laughter that filled the gymnasium. Being able to witness a family coming back together is humbling and I'm so glad I was able to be a part of their special day!

I would like to take a moment to thank all of our servicemen and women for giving up so much in order to protect our country. Welcome home soldiers!

Our Own Newborn https://www.kaitlynwoodphotography.com/blog/2014/5/our-own-newborn The doctors call her the miracle baby and I believe that is true. God had a hand in the care and delivery of our precious Madeline Grace. She was born on August 31, 2013 at Crouse Irving Hospital in Syracuse. About a month before I learned at a routine doctor's visit that something was wrong with the baby who I had carried seemingly healthy for about 7 and 1/2 months. Her measurements indicated that she had stopped growing and in fact was losing weight in the womb. I had some early complications in the pregnancy where the placenta was partially torn away from the uterus wall but that seemed to have passed and the baby was growing by all indications in a healthy way.

In the few weeks following the diagnosis both the baby and I were under an extraordinary amount of monitoring and consultation with the local doctors and the specialists at Crouse Irvings NICU Center in Syracuse. Fortunately our baby's vitals remained good throughout. It was soon determined however that Madeline for whatever reason was not going to gain any more significant weight and we were advised that we should not carry her to full term. She would be better outside of the womb. Our doctors in Lowville worked with Crouse to schedule delivery as soon as possible but the hospital and NICU was booked and we had to wait. During what turned out to be our last visit to Syracuse prior to delivery it was determined that I should be admitted and induced almost immediately. Fortunately there was room in the Inn so to speak at that time. Two days after I was induced and Madeline was born at 4 pounds 1 ounce two weeks prior to her due date. At delivery she was in the care of about a dozen doctors and nurses in the birthing room. They were uncertain whether I was going to be able to deliver naturally or with a C-section and of course were concerned about the baby. Madeline spent 10 days there in the NICU.  I stayed with my parents in Syracuse spending as much time as possible in the hospital nursing and being with Madeline while she was under the doctors care. Jared a firefighter in Watertown commuted as much as possible.  Keerie our oldest daughter waited anxiously as home for her new sister. Madeline Grace soon was allowed to go home at 3 pounds 11 ounces. There are some theories that the doctors have raised as to what led to Madeline's condition in the womb but nothing conclusive. We are just so fortunate though that she was born healthy and except for her weight (she is still very small ), she is progressing albeit at a slow pace. Nutritional consultations and physical therapies continue however. So I thought I would share with you some of our memories from our journey with Madeline.
