Fort Drum Military Homecoming- Pfaff family
A few weeks ago I was presented the incredible opportunity to photograph my first military homecoming in Fort Drum. The experience was humbling beyond words and I'm honored to have been able to be a part of such a sweet family's reunion after so many months apart.
I began my journey into military homecomings by posting in a group of fellow homecoming photographers on Facebook and inquiring of whether or not they knew of anyone looking for a homecoming phtogorapher. I was contacted by Dana Jan with DjLorentz Photography and she referred me to a woman who was in search of a photographer for her husbands upcoming arrival. Jennifer and I kept in contact throughout the whole process, knowing that her husbands flight could change at any moment. When the day finally arrived for their highly anticipated reunion I was nervous, but very excited! You could feel the tension in the room as everyone anxiously awaited the arrival of their loved ones. From the very moment that the soldiers marched through those doors, my emotions were running high from the happy tears, smiles and exuberant laughter that filled the gymnasium. Being able to witness a family coming back together is humbling and I'm so glad I was able to be a part of their special day!
I would like to take a moment to thank all of our servicemen and women for giving up so much in order to protect our country. Welcome home soldiers!
